IN RSUD ARIFIN ACHMAD
IN RIAU PROVINCE

Post operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a condition characterized by nausea and vomiting occuring within 24 hours after surgery which can harm surgical patients. This study aimed to assess PONV incidents at Arifin Achmad Hospital in Riau province. This study design was descriptive categorical using primary data through interviews with patients in the recovery and inpatient room, along with secondary data from medical records. The consecutive sampling technique included 82 participants. Results revealed a PONV incidence at Arifin Achmad Hospital was 22 patients (26.8%). PONV occurred in 19 individuals (86.4%) under general anesthesia and 3 individuals (13.6%) under spinal anesthesia. The highest PONV incidence was observed in oncology (36.5%) followed by obgyn (22.7%). Digestive, urological and orthopedic surgeries had a PONV incidence of 13.6%. Otolaryngology procedures had no recorded PONV events.
