The importance of communication patterns that exist between parents and children in shaping children's character and maintaining family harmony, makes researchers interested in researching what kind of communication patterns parents use with their children who experience nomophobia. In this study, the authors chose MTsN 1 Kuantan Singingi as the research scope material, because MTsN 1 Kuantan Singingi is one of the state schools with the largest number of students and has gadgets as a communication tool in learning. This study aims to find out how permissive communication patterns, authoritarian communication patterns and authoritative communication patterns exist between parents and children who experience nomophobia.
This study used a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach consisting of 40 parents and VII grade students of MTsN 1 kuntan singingi who were selected. In taking the sample, the researcher used a purposive sampling technique to collect data and information through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. In this study the authors used the interactive data analysis technique of Miles and Huberman, where the data obtained from the observations and interviews were processed again by the authors who then entered the data reduction stage. To carry out data validity the authors use the triangulation technique, with the triangulation technique allowing researchers to check their findings by comparing them with various sources, methods, or theories.
The research results show that permassive communication patterns can make children experience nomophobia, it can be seen that parents are too liberating and have low control over children in using mobile phones. Even though parents still give warnings to children and occasionally supervise, children still play their cellphones more often than interact with their parents. So that the communication that exists between parents and children is less effective because the communication that is established is only one-way communication. whereas in authoritarian communication patterns, parents always supervise and limit the time they play gadgets and use gadgets only for study purposes. and authoritative is characterized by an open attitude between parents and children. They make some kind of rules that are mutually agreed upon so that children will listen and obey what their parents say.
