ABSTRACT
Indonesia is a tropical country located on the equator which means Indonesia is rich in forest products with various nutritious plant. Nutritious plants have long been used by traditional communities, one of which is the community in Pahae Jae District, precisely in Sitolu Ompu Village, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province, still using plants as traditional medicine. It is known that Knowledge about this traditional medicinal plant was passed orally from generation. The knowledge possessed by the community is only limited to oral knowledge or has not become a written culture so that the next generation does not know much about the uses of these medicine. This research was conducted to find out the medicinal plants in the region and become a source of knowledge and publication for the next generation about medicinal plants. This research uses exploration and snowball methods, namely direct observation in the field and interviews with informants. Based on the results of research on medicinal plants and their use in Sitolu Ompu Village, North Tapanuli Regency, found as many as 49 types of medicinal plants grouped into 30 families that were used by the people of Sitolu Ompu Village as medicinal plants. How to use medicinal plants by boiling by 67.35%, and in the most used method is drunk which is 71.43%.
