SUMMARY

The phenomenon of education that has not met expectations causes some people to become pessimistic about schools, there is even an assumption that education is no longer able to create vertical social mobility, because schools do not promise decent work. Less school guarantees a better future for children. SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu is one of the public schools in Indragiri Hilir Regency. As one of the elementary school educational institutions, of course, it must know the problems of its institution, know the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, so that it can give birth to brilliant solutions and can deliver basic education institutions to a very influential position in the scientific struggle of the nation and the world. This study aims to analyze strategies in improving the quality of education at SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency.
This research was carried out at SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency, starting from January to July 2023. This type of research is research with a survey method to the field to obtain data at the research location and obtain data and information to make a SWOT analysis strategy to improve the quality of education. The subjects in this study were principals, teachers and employees as well as guardians of SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu students.
Based on research, it is known that the strength in improving the quality of education at SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency is 1) Having an innovative curriculum; 2) Applied Active, Innovative, Creative, Effective and Fun Learning (PAIKEM); 3) Teachers determine the KKM of each subject and implement improvement and enrichment programs; 4) Many teaching staff master ICT; 5) There are additional class hours (tutoring) for classes IV, V and VI; 6) Have an educational concept that has character and academics in accordance with the school's vision and mission; 7) Student interest and motivation are high; 8) The number of textbooks for teachers and students is sufficient; 9) Funds for school operations are sufficient; 10) The principal's leadership is relevant; 11) The school has a clear work program; 12) Cooperation between teachers is good; 13) 89% of teachers have S1 education; 14) The location of the school is very strategic; 15) The number of students is increasing.
The weaknesses in improving the quality of education at SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency are: 1) Not all activities have run according to the curriculum; 2) There are still teachers who teach conventionally; 3) There is no computer lab to support the KBM process; 4) Student activities that are extracurricular in nature have not been maximized; 5) Supervision and guidance from the principal have not been maximized; 6) Cooperation with lecturers/trainers from outside the school for extracurricular activities is still lacking; 7) The number of classrooms has not met the number of classrooms; 7) The number of teachers who are civil servants is less; 8) The ability level of students varies; 9) Sports and arts facilities are inadequate; 10) Learning media in the form of audio-visual media is very lacking; 11) OR teachers are all supervisory and divinitive teachers in other elementary schools; 12) The school area is less green and the cleanliness of the school environment is still lacking; 13) There is no function room (hall), prayer room and extra-curricular activity room; 14) There is no school program evaluation team yet.
Opportunities in improving the quality of education at SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency are: 1) Awareness of parents contributing substantial learning funds; 2) More learning media can be accessed; 3) There are teacher trainings in one cluster that support PBM; 4) Teachers have the opportunity to attend training on syllabus preparation and RPP held by the District/Provincial Office; 5) Parents' concern for good education; 6) The existence of the committee is pretty good; 7) The development of communication and information technology is increasingly accessible; 8) The relationship with the sub-district education office is very close. Threats in improving the quality of education at SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu, Indragiri Hilir Regency are: 1) Higher positive competition between schools; 2) There are many lessons outside of school so that there are students who are not serious about tutoring at school; 3) If teachers often and many attend training, learning activities and guidance will be disrupted; 4) Society is increasingly critical of assessing the quality of teachers; 5) The achievements of other schools are increasingly competing; 6) Many other schools have better facilities; 7) There is an opinion that SDN is not feasible if there are many wiyata bhakti teachers; 8) Utilization of technology for negative things that interfere with student learning.
Strategies in improving the quality of education at SDN 008 Tembilahan Hulu Indragiri Hilir Regency are: 1) Empowering teachers to use information technology in the teaching and learning process; 2) Increase cooperation with teachers or trainers from outside the school to support extra-curricular activities; 3) Intensify supervision and monitoring activities by the principal; 4) Streamlining KKG activities to solve problems encountered by teachers in PBM; 5) Developing educational facilities and infrastructure; 6) Developing the school environment towards a learning community through the 7K program (Cleanliness, Order, Beauty, Desire, Security, Security, and Family); 7) Empowering teachers in performance-enhancing trainings; 8) Developing ICT-based school facilities as learning facilities; 9) Establish achievement clubs to develop students' potential; 10) A school program evaluation team was formed.
