Prarancangan Pabrik Asam Sitrat Dari Molase Proses Submerged Fermentasi Dengan Desain Alat Utama Fermentor (FR-202)
Citric acid is a fatty organic acid that can be obtained from plants, or from materials with a high total sugar content (molasses) with the chemical formula C6H8O7 or CH2(COOH)-COH(COOH)-CH2(COOH). In Indonesia, there is a need for citric acid for raw materials and supporting materials for food and beverages, detergents, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and others. Citric acid can be produced through a submerged fermentation process using a stirred tank fermenter with molasses, sulfuric acid and aspergillus niger as raw materials. The reason for establishing a citric acid factory in Indonesia is to meet domestic needs so as to reduce the value of imports. This factory is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously 24 hours/day with a capacity of 25,000 tons/year which will be established in Bombana district, Southeast Sulawesi. The company form chosen is a Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organization system. The main equipment design in this factory is the Fermenter (FR-202) which functions for the process of making citric acid solution from molasses using the submerged fermentation process. Economic analysis in the design of this factory shows that this factory is feasible to be established with a Break Event Point (BEP) value in the 4th year with a production BEP of 40.1%, Pay Back Period (PBP) of 4,077 years, Rate of Investment (ROI ) of 22.7385%, and Interest Rate of Return (IRR) of 24.523%.
