Upaya Indonesia Dalam Menangani Sengketa Dagang Minyak Sawit Dengan India Tahun 2019-2020
This research discusses the palm oil trade dispute between Indonesia and India. In 2017, India implemented a protectionist policy by increasing import duties on Indonesian palm oil commodities from 17% to 44% in 2017. Indonesia's response to the tariff increase was rejection because it was considered detrimental to both parties and was discriminatory. Therefore, to resolve this trade dispute, Indonesia used economic diplomacy, especially trade diplomacy and commercial diplomacy which took place from 2019-2020.
This research is qualitative-descriptive using literature study techniques that is based on data analysis obtained from primary data namely Info Sawit, BPDKS, GAPKI and secondary data from journal and reports from the Ministry of Trade.
The research findings indicate that Indonesia succeeded in resolving the palm oil export trade dispute with India through several activities of economic diplomacy. Meanwhile, economic diplomacy, especially trade diplomacy, is carried out by government officials at several official conferences, while commercial diplomacy is carried out by business people between countries. The success of Indonesia's economic diplomacy was marked by a reduction in palm oil import tariffs in the Indian market from 44% to 37.5%.
