Perbandingan Kualitas Hidup Sebelum dan Setelah Pengobatan Pasien Skabies di Pesantren X Kota Pekanbaru
Scabies is a dermatologic disease caused by Sarcoptes scabiei var. Hominis infestation, usually marked with skin rashes, especially in skin fold and interdigital areas. Scabies prevalence in tropical and developing countries are still concerning. Communal living style also increase risk for scabies, for example in muslim boarding school (Pesantren). Scabies is not a disease that shorten one’s life expectancy nor life threatening, however scabies can highly affects patient quality of life: physically, emotionally, and functionally. Scabies in pesantren students (santri) are widely studied in Indonesia, however still currently limited on epidemiologic and risk factor study. Therefore this study aimed to compare Children Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI) score before and after scabies treatment of satris on Pesantren X in Pekanbaru City. This study is an analytical cross-sectional study held on Pesantren X in Pekanbaru City during May-June 2024. We found 29 santris diagnosed with scabies. We request patients to fill CDLQI forms, then educate them with scabies therapy. The CDLQI is later filled again after two weeks of therapy. Out of 29 patients, we found 13.8% patients whom are midly impacted, 27.6% patients are moderately impacted, 31% patients are severly impacted, dan 27.6% patients are profoundly impacted by scabies. Paired T-Test analysis showed significant reduction of CDLQI score adter therapy, with final average of 5.9 as comparison with pre-therapy average of 13.72. This finding is statistically meaningful (CI=95%, p-value=0.00).
