Kondisi Mangrove Terganggu Abrasi Di Pantai Desa Tanjung Leban, Kecamatan Bandar Laksamana, Kabupaten Bengkalis
The beaches in Bandar Laksamana Sub-district, Bengkalis Regency, have experienced abrasion at a high rate in recent decades. In addition to eroding land, abrasion has resulted in severe damage to mangrove vegetation, one of which is found on the coast of Tanjung Leban Village. This study aims to analyze the condition of mangrove vegetation found on the coast of this village. Observations were made on one of the 100 m long beach segments, using four transects measuring 100 m x 10 m, consisting of 10 plots measuring 10 m x 10 m, which were positioned parallel to each other to form four observation zones from sea to land (zones 1, 2, 3, and 4). The results of the land cliff retreat measurements ranged from 1-42 m, with cliff heights ranging from 0-147 cm and cliff cavity depths ranging from 0-57 cm. Tree density was lowest in zone 1 (average 2.3 trees/plot) and highest in zone 3 (average 10.2 trees/plot). In zones 1, 2 and 3 only two tree species were found, Rizhopora apiculata and Soneratia alba, which are true mangrove species. In zone 4 four species were found, namely in addition to these two species, Hibiscus tileaseus and Excoecaria agallocha, which are not true mangrove species. The number of uprooted or dead trees in zones 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 12 trees/plot, 5 trees/plot, 3 trees/plot, and 3 trees/plot, respectively. Considering the existing conditions at the time of the study, it is estimated that trees in zone 1 will be uprooted and lost within the next three months, while trees in zone 2 will experience the same thing in the next six to nine months, and so on.
Key findings: Number of tree species, tree density, tree species composition, damage
