Analisa Kadar Silica Berdasarkan Jenis Kayu

Silica is a material that is available in nature and quantitatively abundant. Silica is present in the soil in the form of water soluble silica (H4SiO4). In the pulp & paper industry silica is an impurity that can interfere with productivity. Recently silica has become one of the scourges in the pulp industry with this research can solve the problems that occur. To overcome this problem, we must know the silica content of the raw materials we use in the production process. One of the raw materials used in the production of pulp & paper is wood, PT RAPP uses 3 types of wood, namely acacia crassicarpa, acacia mangium and eucalyptus. From the analysis, it is known that eucalyptus wood has the highest silica content of 283.8 ppm originating from the baserah sector, followed by acacia crassicarpa wood which has the second highest silica content of 123 ppm originating from the nagodang sector, and acacia mangium wood has the lowest silica content of 93 ppm originating from East Kalimantan. Wood that grows in mineral land soils has a high silica content compared to wood that grows in low land soils. The age of wood affects the value of silica from the results of the analysis used wood with ages 3, 4 and 5, wood with 5 years of age has the highest silica content and is followed by wood aged 4 and 3 years.
