Karakteristik Arang Aktif Dari Limbah Batang Kelapa Sawit Dengan Menggunakan Aktivator Asam Klorida
This research aims to obtain the characteristics of selected activated charcoal made from oil palm trunk with the help of hydrochloric acid as an activator. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The treatment in this study used a hydrochloric acid concentration of 5%; 10%; 15%; 20% and 25%. Observations were made on the yield, water content, ash content, volatile matter content, pure carbon content and iodine absorption capacity. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using IBM SPSS version 23 statistical software with analysis of variance (ANOVA) test, if Fcount ≥ Ftable then the treatment had a significant effect and the analysis was continued with a further Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The research results showed that increasing the concentration of hydrochloric acid used had a significant effect on the activated charcoal produced. The activated charcoal with the best treatment was found in the 25% HCl activator concentration with a yield of 76.35%, water content of 2.53%, ash content of 2.35%, volatile matter content of 9.69%. bound carbon content of 85.43% and absorption of iodine 837.54 mg/g.
