Hubungan Pemberian Asi Eksklusif Dengan Kejadian Diare Pada Bayi Umur 6-12 Bulan Di Posyandu Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Lima Puluh Pekanbaru
Diarrhea is a complaint of defecation with loose or watery consistency that occurs more than 3 times a day. This situation is found in babies who are not given the nutrition needed for baby immunity, especially exclusive breastfeeding. The aim of this research was to determine whether there was a relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of diarrhea in babies aged 6-12 months at Posyandu in the working area of Limapuluh Health Center, Pekanbaru. This research used a cross-sectional study design with a sample size of 46. The research results showed that the proportion of diarrhea cases was 22 cases (47.8%) while the proportion of non-exclusive breastfeeding was 21 (45.7%). There is a significant relationship between the incidence of diarrhea and exclusive breastfeeding p-value 0.008. The prevalence ratio value was obtained at 2.55 (95% CI 1.28-5.05), which means that babies who are not given exclusive breast milk have 2.55 times risk of developing diarrhea. Exclusive breast milk is the best source of nutrition for babies because it contains nutrients such as antibodies, proteins, vitamins and minerals which function to increase the baby's immunity which is still low after birth. It is recommended that health workers provide education about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding as early as possible. Apart from that, family support is also needed for the mother so that exclusive breastfeeding can run well.
