Prarancangan Pabrik Asetaldehid Dari Etilen Dan Oksigen Dengan Desain Alat Utama Kolom Absorbsi (Ca-101)
ABSTRACT
Acetaldehyde is an aldehyde compound with the chemical formula CH3CHO or known as Methyl-CHO (MeCHO) is an intermediate in the manufacture of other organic chemical compounds, for example: acetic acid, acetic anhydride, ethyl acetate, n-butyl alcohol and so on. This design aims to meet domestic acetaldehyde needs, reduce acetaldehyde imports, open new jobs, and encourage the establishment of new factories that further process acetaldehyde into products ready for marketing. The location of the factory is planned in the Plaju area, Palembang, South Sumatra, with an area for the establishment of the factory of 473 hectares with a production capacity of 55,000 tons/year. The production method used is the oxidation of ethylene and oxygen with the Wacker process, which involves the oxidation of ethylene using a homogeneous palladium/copper catalyst. Where ethylene is obtained from Pertamina RU III and oxygen is taken from the atmosphere. The main tool chosen is an absorption column which functions to separate ethylene, ethane, and oxygen gases with ethane and CO2. The economic feasibility analysis shows that this acetaldehyde plant is eligible to be established, with a PBP of 2 years 9 months, an IRR of 38.42%, an ROI of 24.6%, an SDP of 23%, a POT of 2 years 9 months and a BEP of 40% and the sensitivity rate of the acetaldehyde plant's profit is not sensitive to changes in raw material prices, product selling prices, and production capacity.
