Pengaruh Kedalaman Sarang Terhadap Jenis Kelamin Penyu Hijau (Chelonia mydas) di Pulau Pandan Kawasan Konservasi Pulau Pieh, Sumatera Barat
This study was carried out in April-June 2024 in Pandan Island, Pieh Island Conservation Area West Sumatra Province, with the aim of finding out how nest depth affects the incubation period, hatching rate, survival rate and sex of green turtle hatchlings. (Chelonia. mydas). This study used an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) in three treatments with three repelication. There unit were 45 inviduals of green turtle eggs distributed to 9 unit experiment or 5 eggs for each unit. The treatments were set at a depth of 50 cm and 70 cm and 60 cm. To determine the effect of differences in nest depth, One Way ANOVA tests was carried out. The results showed that the egg incubation period ranged from 53-57 days, there was a significant difference between the depth of the nest and the egg incubation period with deeper nests having a longer incubation period. There were 6 out of 15 eggs hatched at nest depths of 50 and 60 cm, while at a depth of 70 cm there were 7 out of 15 eggs hatched. The depth of nest does not affect the success rate of egg hatching (hatching rate). The survival rate of hatchlings was 40% at nest depths of 50 and 60 cm, and 20% at nest depths of 70 cm. The depth of the green turtle nest does not affect the survival rate of the hatchlings. There was no effect of nest depth on the sex ratio of green turtles with all three treatments having 100% male hatchlings.
