Gambaran Kanker Paru Dengan Efusi Pleura Di RSUD Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau Periode 2017 – 2023
Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. One of the serious complications frequently associated with lung cancer is pleural effusion, which is the accumulation of fluid in the pleural cavity that can worsen the prognosis and quality of life for patients. This study aims to identify the characteristics of lung cancer with pleural effusion at Arifin Achmad General Hospital, Riau Province. The research method involved collecting medical record data of lung cancer patients with pleural effusion at Arifin Achmad General Hospital from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2023. There were 75 lung cancer patients with pleural effusion, consisting of 65.3% males and 34.7% females, predominantly in the 41-60 age group (60%). The distribution of patients based on occupation showed a majority working indoors (42.7%). Few patients had a family history of lung disease (1.3%) and a history of recurrent lung infections (33.3%). Many patients were active smokers (53.3%) and had comorbidities (57.3%), but only a few had a history of malignancy (9.3%). Pleural fluid analysis revealed serohemorrhagic fluid (60%) as the most common macroscopic finding and adenocarcinoma (69.3%) as the most frequent cytological type.
