Kinerja Biokoagulan Biji Mangga (Mangifera Indica) Yang Dipreparasi Secara Penggilingan Kering Dan Basah Untuk Pengolahan Air Gambut
The mango seed contains active components, such as proteins, which can act as coagulant agents (biocoagulants). This study aims to prepare, characterize, and evaluate the effectiveness of mango seed as a biocoagulant for the removal of color, turbidity, total suspended solids (TSS), and total dissolved solids (TDS) in peat water. Mango seed biocoagulants were prepared using dry grinding (PK) and wet grinding, producing residue (PBR) and filtrate (PBF). PK and PBR biocoagulants were characterized using FTIR, SEM-EDX, moisture content, and protein content, while PBF was characterized by FTIR and protein content. Coagulation tests were conducted using a jar test with varying pH and doses for PK, and varying NaCl concentrations for PBR and PBF. FTIR analysis of PK, PBR, and PBF biocoagulants revealed functional groups such as O-H, N-H, C-H, C=O, and C-O, indicating the presence of proteins. SEM-EDX analysis showed that PK and PBR biocoagulants had an elongated surface with C, O, and N as their primary elements. The moisture content of PK and PBR at 0.1 M was 10.45% and 8.47%, respectively, while the protein content of PK, PBR 0,1 M, and PBF 1 M was 0,394-0,916%. The effectiveness of the mango seed biocoagulants was evaluated based on peat water analysis after coagulation, sedimentation time, and sludge volume produced. The most effective biocoagulant for color, turbidity, and TSS removal was PBR 0.1 M, with removal rates of 79.58%, 97.89%, and 87.88%, respectively. However, the most effective biocoagulant for sedimentation time was PBF 1 M, which achieved sedimentation in 141 minutes, producing 2 mL of sludge. The TSS parameter met the standards of Indonesian Regulation No. 22 of 2021, Class I, and the TDS complied with Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017. However, the color and turbidity parameters did not meet the referenced standards.
