Strategi Pengembangan Agroindustri Aren (Arenga Pinnata) Di Kabupaten Rokan Hulu Provinsi Riau

Agroindustry is a managing effort of agricultural produce where its basic material
or especial material is come from agricultural produces. Palm agroindustry is one form of
industry that use palm sugar as its raw material and processed in such way to be various
type of product to consumed and marketed. This research is purposed: 1) to know the
production aspect, processing aspect, technology aspect, marketing aspect and
institutional aspect of palm sugar agroindustry business at Rokan Hulu Regency; 2) to
compile the right development strategy for palm sugar agroindustry worker at Rokan
Hulu Regency. This research is conducted from August 2009 until January 2010 in
Rambah Tengah Barat Village at Rambah District, and Bangun Purba Timur Jaya Village
at Bangun Purba District, Rokan Hulu Regency, riau Province by survey method using
Random Sampling. Sampling from both village is conducted by random sampling method
as much as 25 percent from Rambah Tengah Barat Village total 23 peoples and Bangun
Purba Timur Jaya Village as much as 8 peoples. The palm swiker worker only exist in
Rambah Tengah Barat Village as much as 1 respondent. The result of research strategy
for palm sugar is: 1) exploiting a potencial land for palm sugar development, 2) the
cultivation of palm sugar is designedly conducted by the existence of related department
support, 3) strengthening a worker institute through government construction, 4) to get
market opportunity with profitability of comparative and competitive firstrate, 5) to
expand the processing technology of palm product. And strategi must be used by palm
swiker is: 1) conducting a cultivation of palm plant, 2) improving a processing
technology of palm swiker, 3) looking for market opportunity, 4) forming a worker
group, 5) exploiting the promotion media to reach market.
