Biologi Hama Kutu Tepung Putih, Paracoccus Marginatus (Williams And Granara De Willink, 1992) (Homoptera: Pseudococcidae) Yang Menyerang Tanaman Pepaya (Carica Papaya, Linn.)
Papaya mealybug, Paracoccus marginatus Williams & Granara de Willink
(Homoptera : Pseudococcidae) is a new pest that damages papaya field in
Indonesia. These pest was recorded for the first time in May 2008, where it was
found in Kebun Raya Bogor, Jawa Barat. Damages of Paracoccus marginatus
causing chlorosis, stunting, malformed leaf, lowering crop yield and death of
plant. To control these pest succesfully, needs a basic information such as biology
information quantitatively. The results of this research suggested that mean
developmental time at each stadia of Paracoccus marginatus, were: egg stadia at
5.00±0.78 d, first-instar nymphs at 4.36±0.93 d, second-instar nymphs of male
and female at 4.75±0.50 d and 4.20±1.23 d. Third-instar nymphs of male
(prapupe) and female at 5.25±0.50 d and 4.40±1.07 d. Fourth-instar nymphs
(pupe) of male at 6.00±0.82 d. Adultmale and female at 17.75±2.22 d and
16.10±2.18 d. Mean life cycle of male and female were 44.25±1.26 d and
33.6±3.57 d. Mean of fecundity were 56±24.95 eggs per female. Ratio of male
and female were 6 : 1.
