Analisis Biomassa Dan Cadangan Karbon Pada Ekosistem Hutan Mangrove Di Pesisir Pantai Kelurahan Purnama Kota Dumai Provinsi Riau

Analysis of biomass and carbon stock on mangrove forest ecosystem in coastal area of Purnama Subdistrict Dumai City Riau Province has been conducted in June-July 2013. The potencies of biomass, carbon stock and CO2 sequestration within undisturb (Station 1) and disturb (Station 2) mangrove forest area were compared. The results showed that in Station 1, the largest biomass and carbon stock potencies were found on stem, followed on root, branch and the lowest was found on the leaf. The largest biomass and carbon stock potencies in Station 2 were recorded on root, followed on stem, branch and leaf. Carbon stock in Station 1 (3,461.41 ton C/ha) was larger than in Station 2 (2,539.87 ton C/ha). The total CO2 sequestration on mangrove forest was 8,354.17 ton CO2/ha at Station 1 and 3.391,20 ton CO2/ha at Station 2. It is suggested from this study that mangrove ecosystem in Dumai coastal area needs to be protected as one of the precaution to solve the future global warming issues.
