The objective of this research was to find out the influence of managerial competence on the effectiveness of school management, to find out the influence of school environment on the effectiveness of school management, and the influence of managerial competence and school environment on the effectiveness of school management at SMP in Rayon lll and Rayon lV in Rokan Hilir District.
The population of the study was 46 people and all of them were taken as the sample of the study. The data were analyzed using simple correlation analysis, double/dual regression, simple regression analysis and double/dual regression. The findings of the study showed that (1) there was a medium influence of managerial competence (X1) on the effectiveness of school management (Y) with the determination coefficient of 38,7%, (2) there was a medium influence of school environment (X2) on the effectiveness of school management (Y) with the determination coefficient of20,9%, (3) whereas the influence of managerial competence (X1) and school environment (X2) on the effectiveness of school management (Y) had the determination coefficient of 40,4% which was also in the medium category.
The above findings imply that the managerial competence and school environment variables had a positive influence on the effectiveness of school management at SMP in Rayon lll and Rayon Vl in Rokan Hilir District which was in the medium category.
