Abstract : Based on observations in KB light mother of meranti island in group B of 14 children p who can name the letter correctly ,recognize the shape of the letters call the initial leter , from word and combine letters into a word .It is seen one of them only few children who can answer correctly when asked by the teacher, whil more than a few children not answer can not answer correctly the symptoms illustrate thet the ability to read the beginning of the child is still relatively low.The purpose of this study is,1) T o know if playing ball letters can improve children’s reading ability, 2) T.o know how the application of playing ball letter can improve the reading of the child’s beginning aged 5 to 6 years in KB light mother of meranti island. of the research results and discussion can be concluded thet is: 1) by playing the ball letters can improve children’s reading ability aged 5 to 6 years in KB light mother of meranti island ,2) percentage improvement of reading ability beginning through playing the ball letters in childerns aged 5 to 6 years in KB light mother of meranti island before action is taken that is 36,22% with criteria starting to develop after the action is done then on the one cycle childerns reading ability increases 49,82%. In the second cycle increases to 68,955% with criteria evolving as expected.
