Makna Handphone Di Kalangan Siswa Yang Tidak Menggunakan Handphone Di SMA Negeri 3 Pekanbaru

Mobile phone is a requirement particularly for Senior High School
students, as teenagers which for them, mobile phone is not only as
communication equipment and information but also as a form of selfactualization,
self-status, and life style. Student who does not use mobile
phone at school is in contradiction with Bourdieu’s habitus perspective.
The focuses of the research are: (1) how do the students who do not use
mobile phone mean the mobile phone itself; (2) how do their families’
economic-social conditions; (3) what are their point of view toward socialmedia.
The tecniques were used in this research were purposive sampling
and qualitative descriptive analysis technique. The researcher conducted
in-dept interviews with 6 students who do not use mobile phone, 2
teachers and parent of students who do not use mobile phone. Actually,
the students were able to interpret mobile phone as communication
equipment, information, interaction, entertainment, symbol of the present.
With in background of different economic social conditions both from poor
and capable families, the students who do not use mobile phone are able
to be mature such as to behave that teenagers are not identical with
mobile phone, do not feel “funky” eventhough they do not use mobile
phone. Even, the students who do not use mobile phone argue beside
having positive impact, it has negative impact such as : not concentrating
while teaching-learning process, feel seepy in the classroom because of
sleeping lately in the night for playing games and chatting with their
frinends, and also they do not care about the environment. The negative
impacts of using mobile phone need teacher’s attention at school by
monitoring the use of mobile phone while teaching-learning process and
having strict punishment if the students misuse the using of mobile phone.
So hopefully mobile phone really has worth use.
