Karakteristik Kertas Dari Pulp Ampas Tebu Dan Batang Pisang Dengan Proses Soda Semi Mekanis
Generally, the paper is made from fiber plants which contained cellulose fibers and hemicelluloses usually exist in nature. One of waste that can be processed into paper-making raw material alternative is bagasse and banana stems. Bagasse contains 26% -43% cellulose and banana stems contain 63% -65% cellulose content so that it can be used for paper making. This study uses a semi-mechanical soda method. The fixed variable of the study was the concentration of the cooking solution 4%, the ratio of the raw material to the cooking solution which was 1:10 and the cooking time was 90 minutes. The variable change of research is the weight ratio of bagasse pulp and banana stems (1: 1), (1: 2), (1: 3). This study conducted pulp tests such as water content test, kappa number test, thickness, tear strength, tensile strength and gramatur. The lowest water content was obtained in the weight ratio of bagasse pulp and banana stem 1: 3 which was 8.15%, the lowest kappa number was obtained at a ratio of 1: 3, which is 29.64, the highest thickness was obtained at a ratio of 1: 1, which was 937.8 μm, The highest tensile strength was obtained at a ratio of 1: 1 which was 9,8728 kN / m, the highest tear strength was obtained at a ratio of 1: 1 which was 1228.2 mN and the highest Gramatur was obtained at a ratio of 1: 1 which was 91 g / m2. From the parameters that have been tested, pulp from a combination of bagasse and banana stems can be used as food packaging paper.
