Pendangkalan Lingkungan Perairan Muara Sungai Rokan Bagansiapiapi Provinsi Riau
Pressure of various activities causes the emergence of various problems such as shoreline retreat due to abrasion, formed land (accretion) causing shoreline forward etc. Analyzing the sedimentation and abrasion processes that lead to changes in shoreline and estuarine ecosystems are general aims of the study. One particular goal is to estimate the age of sediment and the rate of absolute sedimentation using 210Pb radioisotope. The method used is survey method and determination of sampling point by purposive.
Sedimentation area (accretion) 1893 – 2015 (122 years), 35,711.4 ha (292.7 ha/yr). Total erosion of 14,992,120 tons/yr. The total erosion is not much different from the sedimentation (13,820,426,9 tons/yr). The erosion thickness of 0.41 cm/yr in the catchment area is not much different from the sedimentation rate using radioisotope 210Pb (0.5 cm/yr). In 1893 at the estuary of the Rokan River there are 2 islands i.e. P. Alang Besar and P. Alang Kecil. The shoreline change on the right of the estuary is more dynamic. The smallest accretion in P. Baru and widest on the coast of Bagansiapiapi. The sediments age in the sea is older than on land (delta). The oldest sediment is in the western waters of P. Berkey, the youngest in P. Berkey. The sedimentation rate is higher on land than in the sea. P. Halang was estimated form in 1850, P. Pendamaran in 1902 and P. Berkey in 1942. The old sediment age of 47.79 years in P. Berkey was found at a high depth of 50 cm. While in P. Halang, for 40.7 years old sediment, found only at a depth of 12 cm. Thus the sedimentation process that occurs in P. Halang is much slower than in P. Berkey.
