The purpose of this research is to analyze the effort of ship docking of society of Bagansiapiapi related to illegal logging activity and determine the steps that must be taken by government or related department to more effective and sustainable culture of society in making boat dock by still paying attention to forest preservation in Rokan Hilir Regency. Qualitative descriptive research type by describing and analyzing various data collected through interview and field observation. Respondents in this study of this study samples taken by "Quote Sampling" as many as 10 (ten) people.
The results of the research note that 1). The most dominant factor affecting the Bagansiapiapi community in ship docking is the factor of economic need and also the hereditary cultural factors of society, especially the riverbanks of the Rokan River. 2). The steps taken to preserve the culture of the community in making boat docks by keeping in mind the preservation of forests in Rokan Hilir District are conducted by approaching local village apparatus by providing information to the community, making agreements (MoUs) with companies obtaining rights to timber processing. The last effort through law enforcement against illegal logging actors.
