Degradasi Methyl Orange (Mo) Menggunakan Metode Fenton - Like Dengan Katalis Mangan Oksida Tipe Manganosite
Manganese oxide containing with mixture phases was obtained by the reaction between KMnO4 and glucose using the sol-gel method with the mole ratio of 2:3. The Characterization of the oxide using X-ray diffraction showed crystalline peaks of the three-type phases of manganese oxide; manganosite (55.4%); hausmanite (31.9%) and birnessite (12.7%). The morphology results from the manganese oxide using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) showed the hollow particles with the particle size of 2 µm. The analysis of Gas Surface Analyzer (GSA) indicated 11,223 m2/g of the surface area; 0.087 mL/g of the pore volume and 34.289 Ǻ of the pore diameter. As synthesized manganosite is used for the degradation of methyl orange (MO) using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as an oxidant. The maximum degradation of MO was 92.1% obtained by 10 mg/L MO; pH 2; 30 mg manganosite; 10 mL of H2O2 in 90 minutes of reaction at room temperature. Degradation of MO using the manganosite followed the second order reaction kinetics.
