Aspek Biologi Ikan Juaro (Pangasius Polyuranodon) Di Sungai Siak Provinsi Riau
Pangasius polyuranodon is one of freshwater fishes that inhabit the Siak River. This river is considered as polluted, but P. polyuranodon is available in that river and thus indicate that it is able to grow and conducting reproductive activities in that area. To Understand the biological aspects of the fish, a study has been conducted in December 2016. The fish was taken once/ week in four different places. Fourty two fishes were taken, consisted of 18 females and 24 males fish. Stomach content of the fish was analyzed as a basic to calculate the Preponderance Index (PI). Fecundity was analyzed using a gravimetric method. Gonad and otolith was analyzed using descriptive way.
Result shown the main food of P. polyuranodon was leaves and seeds (PI 56.19%), insect (PI 18.04%) and palm (PI 16.45%), gastropods (PI 2.97%) and fish (PI 0.20%). Based on data obtained, this fish can be categorized as omnivore. P. polyuranodon tend to choose high content protein and fat feed during gonad development. The ability of fish in consuming palm seed (Elaeis sp) indicates that P. polyuranodon is frugivory fish. Although there are several fishes have dark circle in the otolith, but most of the fish has no dark ring. This fact indicate that the fish grow properly in their habitat.
