Preparasi Dan Karakterisasi Adsorben Kulit Batang Sagu (Metroxylon Sagoo) Dengan Aktivator Asam Klorida
Activated carbon from sago bark (Metroxylon sagu Rottb.) has the potential natural sorbent because it contains a large amount of cellulose and lignin. The quality of adsorbent were determine by characterization the powder and the activated carbon from sago bark using the National SNI 06-3730-1995. The powder and the activated carbon from sago bark are activated through the addition of hydrochloric acid (HCl) activator with a variation ratio of weight 1:1; 1:2 and 1:3. The optimum of powder and activated carbon were determined by characterization of water content, ash content, adsorption of iodine and adsorption of methylene blue and then the determination of functional groups was tested by FTIR spectroscopy. From the study, powder and activated carbon from sago bark which activated by chloride acid ratio 1:2 and 1:1 has the best result with water content 1.64%; 0.81%, ash content 2.90%; 3.14% adsorption of iodine 261.41 mg/g; 261.41 mg/g and adsorption of methylene blue 4.80 mg/g; 3.72 mg/g with surface area 17.76 m2/g; 13.76 m2/g. From this study the powder and the activated carbon from sago bark weren’t fulfil the standard of SNI 06-3730-1995.
