Doping Ion Ag+ Pada Cryptomelane Dengan Metode Two Step Synthesis
Manganese oxide as cryptomelane type was synthesized from potassium permanganate and citric acid using the indirect method by first synthesizing manganese oxide by the sol gel method and doping using metal ions Ag+. The characterization of cryptomelane was conducted using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Brunauer, Emmet and Teller (BET) and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX). The XRD results manganese oxide type cryptomelane and the presence of a new phase that appears is Ag, , Ag2O and AgO. Characterization results from Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), content of metal atoms of K, Mn and transition metal ions geerated using the indirect method results in a decrease in the amount of metal K with increasing amounts of Ag+ doping ions and characterization results from Brunauer, Emmet and Teller (BET) resulting in a greater surface area at Ag-cryptomelane 5%. The as synthesized Ag-cryptomelane product was then applied for the degradation of methylene blue dye using H2O2 as an oxidant. The maximum of dye degradation (95,904%) was obtained using 50 mg/L of methylene blue; 30 mg of catalis and 8,89 mL of H2O2 at 120 minutes of reaction.
