Pembuatan Komposit Karet Alam Sir 20-Arang Aktif Cangkang Kemiri-Pasir Cor Sebagai Penyaringair Sungai Kampar Kiri
The need for drinking water in the Pekanbaru-Kampar community is increasing every day, with a government program through the drinking water supply system (SPAM) making the Kampar River a source of drinking water, but its quality as a source of drinking water has declined due to high activity around the watershed. (DAS). Therefore, it is necessary to do a filtering process, one of which is using composites. Composite is a combination of two or more different materials of its type to form a material with new properties. In this research, natural rubber SIR 20, charcoal from candlenut shell which has been activated by potassium hydroxide (KOH) 5% and cast sand were used as raw material for making composites. Composites were made with three variations in mass of filler materials, 100% activated charcoal : 0% cast sand (KA), 50% activated charcoal : 50% cast sand (KAP) and 0% activated charcoal : 100% cast sand (KP). Composites which have been formed, were characterized by mechanical property test (tensile, compressive and density). The filtering processes were made in two methods: direct composite filter (PKL) and simple-composite combination filter (PKPPS). The results obtained in this research showed that the highest value of tensile strength was on composite KA (0.4607 MPa), the highest compressive strength value was composite KP (12.6625 MPa) and the highest density was composite KP (0.8539 g mL-1). Analysis of color, pH, TSS and TDS parameters after filtering showed optimum results on composites KAP with a simple-composite combination filtering system that was able to reduce colors by 88.75%, TSS 90% and TDS 63.9% and improve pH from 6, 2 becomes 7.02. The value has been qualified into PERMENKES RI No.416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990 and Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001. The conclusion of this research was the filtering method using composite was effective to improved water quality of Kampar River.
