The concept of developing new ecotourism with a touch of innovation
needs to be integrated so that environmental sensitivity can be managed properly.
One of the tourism concepts that is better known today is the concept of
ecotourism with various management techniques such as community-based
coastal resource management implemented in an integrated manner.
Mandah District has a unique ecotourism area, namely Solop Beach,
which is located in Pulau Cawan Village. Solop Beach has its own characteristics
and uniqueness because it has white sand which is formed from fossil marine
animals such as shellfish and the like, known as soursop sand. In addition, the
existence of beautiful mangrove forests along Solop Beach is the main attraction
of this beach. There is great potential for the Solop Beach area in managing
mangrove ecosystems through sustainable ecotourism activities that are
supported by ecological, economic and social values.
This study aims to identify ecological, economic, social and institutional
conditions at Solop Beach, identify conditions for mangrove ecotourism at Solop
Beach, Pulau Cawan Village and analyze index and status of sustainability and
ecotourism management of Solop Beach mangrove forests. This research
approach is a quantitative and qualitative approach using survey methods,
literature study and interviews. This research was conducted in the Solop Beach
mangrove ecotourism area, which is administratively located in Pulau Cawan
Village, Mandah District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. The data taken are primary
and secondary data.
Based on the results of the study, it is known that the ecological conditions
around Solop Beach, seen from the availability of zoning for tourism
management, are classified as available and obeyed, the economic conditions
seen from the people's income towards the UMR of Indragiri Hilir Regency are
still in the medium category then the use of mangroves by the community is still
low, namely
