Children are assets that determine the survival, quality and glory of a nation in the future. The research was
animed to determine the perception of fishermen on the psychological value, economic value and social value of
children in fishing families. This research was conducted in September 2019. The method used was a survey
method by interviewing respondents using a questionnaire based on each respondent who was a fisherman's
family. Based on the results of the study showed that the fishermen of Kuala Merbau Village perceive the value
of children in fishing families having a high category of children expected to provide a function in the
fishermen's family. Fisherman's perception is said to be high because the perception value of fishermen is 2100,
while the range of categories is high if the respondent has a score of 1820-2340.
