ABSTRACT
The estimation of fishing season for anchovy is closely related to the process of
fishing activities, so it requires information on spread of the fish season’s abundance
in order to obtain optimal fish catching. This research was conducted at the Bungus
Ocean Fishery Port (PPS Bungus) which is located in Labuan Tarok Village, Bungus
Barat Subdistrict Bungus Teluk Kabung, Padang City, West Sumatra Province which
aims to determine a good and precise fishing season for anchovy based on fish
logbook data obtained from PPS Bungus in the last 5 years. The results obtained
show that the higher the value of the fishing season index (IMP), the better the time
to catch anchovies.
