Strategi Bertahan Hidup Nelayan Miskin Di Kelurahan Lubuk Tukko Baru Kecamatan Pandan Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah Provinsi Sumatera Utara

ABSTRACT
This research was conducted on March 28th 2020 - April 10th 2020 in
Lubuk Tukko Baru Village, Pandan District, Tapanuli Tengah Regency, North
Sumatra Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the economic and
social strategies undertaken by poor fishermen to survive. The method used in this
research is a survey method with 60 respondents. The technique of determining
respondents was done by simple random sampling. This study aims to identify the
economic and social strategies used by poor fishermen to survive.
The results showed that the economic strategy, namely the economical
strategy of poor fishermen, was in the medium category, meaning that the
fishermen had tried their best to save money in terms of food, but for food,
fishermen could not always save money. Fishermen prioritize a regular diet to
maintain a healthy body, rather than having a family member who is sick they
have to pay more for medical treatment. And The strategy of adding resources is
more dominant in the high category, meaning that fishermen always add resources
properly and ideally, such as utilizing empty land to plant food and medicinal
plants, asking for used clothes from relatives / neighbors. And social strategy is in
the high category, meaning that fishermen have carried out social strategies very
well and always have good relationships with their social environment.
