Keanekaragaman Ular Di Kawasan Mangrove Rawa Mekar Jaya, Kecamatan Sungai Apit, Kabupaten Siak, Riau
Rawa Mekar Jaya mangrove ecosystem is one of the snake habitat, this area is also an ecotourism area. Ecotourism activities have the potential to reduce the habitat quality of wild animal including snakes, thus possibly affecting the diversity of snakes there. Therefore, this research aims to determine the diversity of snakes in Rawa Mekar Jaya mangrove. Data retrieved using the Visual Encounter Survey (VES) method at three observation stations, namely: river (S1); ecotourism pathway (S2); and dense mangroves (S3). Snake diversity was analyzed using the Shannon-Wienner Diversity Index (H '). Snakes found in the mangrove area of Rawa Mekar Jaya numbered 59 individuals, belonging to 3 species, that is: Boiga dendrophila, Cerberus rynchops, and Trimesurus purpureomaculatus. Diversity index values (H') for each zone ranged from 0,41-0,51 so it's classified as low.
