Hubungan Antara Self-Compassion Dengan Body Image Pada Remaja
Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood.
Adolescents experience changes in body shape during puberty that affect body
image. These changes can cause a negative body image, so that teenagers really
need Self-Compassion to themselves so that they have a positive body image.
Methods: This research was conducted at SMAN 8 Pekanbaru, with a correlation
study design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample consisted of
199 respondents in class XI students using random sampling technique. The
measuring instrument used is a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and
reliability. Result: The results showed that the majority of respondents were 16
years old (58.8%), female gender (67.3%), high category Self-Compassion
(48.7%), and body image in the positive category (56.3%). The statistical test
used is the Chi-Square test. The statistical test results obtained p value (0.024) <
alpha (0.05) so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between
self-compassion and body image in adolescents. Conclusion: The results of this
study suggest adolescents to love themselves, more to adolescents who have a
negative body image in order to feel satisfied with their body image.
