Implementasi Kawasan Tanpa Rokok Di Universitas Riau

The prevalence of smoking among children and adolescents in Indonesia was the
highest in ASEAN countries at 19.4% in 2017. In order to control cigarette
consumption in Indonesia, the government implements a non-smoking area policy
(NSA), one of which is in Pekanbaru City through the Pekanbaru Mayor Regulation
No. 39 of 2014. University was one of the targets of the NSA implementation.
University of as a place for young generation to obtain an education, that makes
University of Riau supposed to implement NSA. The purpose of this study was to
determine the description of the implementation of NSA at University of Riau. This
research used a survey method with quantitative and qualitative data.. Data were
gathered with observation and interview with NSA guideline from Ministry of Health
of Republic Indonesia . Sample of this research were 10 faculties and 67 informants
consisting of the heads of administration, lecturers, staff and students.. Data were
analyzed descriptively and textually. The results of this study indicate that the
University of Riau has not implementing the NSA. Effort to implement KTR at UNRI
include the dean's Decree regarding NSA, socialization of the KTR policy, existence
of a smoking ban promotion media, and there are writen punishment on NSA policy.
The inhibiting factor for the implementation of NSA at UNRI is the absence of NSA
monitoring team, absence of counseling on the dangers of smoking and smoking
ethics, absence of an evaluation and academic community that is still smoking at NSA
environment.
