Uji Aktivitas Antibakteri Kombinasi Ekstrak Mangifera Sumatrana Miq. Dan Ruellia Tuberosa L. Terhadap Bakteri Patogen Penyebab Infeksi Kulit

Staphylococcus is one of the microorganisms that often cause skin infections. The continuous use of antibiotics can lead to the possibility of resistance. Plant extracts such as Mangifera sumatrana and Ruellia tuberosa have the potential to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. Both plants contain bioactive compounds as antibacterial agents. The aim of this study is to determine the antibacterial activity of single extracts of M. sumatrana and R. tuberosa, as well as their combinations, in inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria that cause skin infections such as S. aureus and S. epidermidis. The research was conducted using the disc diffusion method with various combinations of M. sumatrana and R. tuberosa extracts (1:0, 1:2, 1:1, 2:1, 0:1). The results of the study indicate that the extracts have antibacterial activity against S. aureus and S. epidermidis. The largest inhibition zone was obtained in the MSRT2 treatment (1:1 ratio) at 7.19±1.11 mm against S. aureus. The inhibition zone value of the combination was greater than the single extract, indicating a synergistic effect. Meanwhile for S. epidermidis, the largest inhibition zone was in the MS treatment (single extract of M. sumatrana) at 7.64±1.42 mm. The inhibition zone value was less synergistic because the single extract had a larger inhibition zone compared to the combination extract.
