Pra Rancangan Pabrik Xylitol Proses Hidrogenasi Dengan Desain Alat Utama Reaktor (R-101)
ABSTRACT
Xylitol is a sugar alcohol often used as a sugar substitute, raw material for the chemical industry, and used in the health sector. This causes the need for xylitol as a raw material for the pharmaceutical industry, and supporting materials for the food industry to increase. The increasing need for xylitol in Indonesia causes the import rate to also increase. This final project aims to design a xylitol plant to minimize imports and increase employment. The main raw material used is xylose with a hydrogenation process. This plant is planned to operate for 330 days per year and work continuously for 24 hours/day with a capacity of 20,000 tons/year to be established in Cilegon, Banten. The main equipment design of this plant is a trickle bed hydrogenation reactor that functions to produce xylitol at a pressure of 40 bar and a temperature of 130°C. The economic analysis of this plant shows that the xylitol plant from xylose is feasible to be established with a BEP percentage of 40%; ROI of 35.74%; IRR of 22.74%; and Payback Period (PBP) of the plant is 2.13 years.
