Perancangan Mangrove Research Center Di Indragiri Hilir Dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Biomimikri
ABSTRACT
Mangrove is a natural fence that functions to prevent abrasion and erosion in coastal areas as well as a place to live for marine biota and several other fauna. Indragiri Hilir is one of the regencies in Riau Province which has a fairly extensive mangrove ecosystem in which it is estimated that there are 60 types of mangroves out of a total of 79 types of mangroves found in Indonesia. Based on data from the Forestry Service of Indragiri Hilir Regency, the area of mangrove forests from 2006 to 2017 has decreased significantly in quantity. The Mangrove Research Center is a facility that accommodates research and development activities which will become a forum for exploration for researchers as well as a means of introducing mangroves to the public in an effort to collect the natural wealth of mangrove forests. In line with the design function of the Mangrove Research Center, Biomimicry Architecture is able to realize the relationship between architecture and nature by integrating natural elements into building designs. So that the Architectural Biomimicry approach is relevant to be applied which aims to maximize function and minimize the negative impact of buildings on the environment.
