Efektivitas Penerapan Pendekatan Etnomatematika Makanan Khas Kepulauan Riau Pada Materi Geometri Untuk Siswa Sekolah Dasar
Ethnomathematics is a term first introduced by D’Ambossio, a Brazilian mathematician. This ethnomathematics aims to draw cultural understanding by using mathematics learning so that mathematics is not only meaningful but can also provide insight that mathematical knowledge is also embedded in social and cultural life. Ethnomathematics of typical Riau Islands food used include gomak flour, otak-otak, jala bread, bangkit cake and luti gendang.
This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of applying the ethnomathematics approach to typical Riau Islands food to geometry material, especially flat shape material. This study was conducted on grade V students of SDN 002 Tebing, Tanjung Balai Karimun. The method used in this study is the quasi-experimental method. This study used two sample groups, namely the control class and the experimental class which were selected randomly. The experimental class will be given treatment in the form of an ethnomathematics approach to typical Riau Islands food and the other group will be given learning with conventional methods.
The results of this study indicate an increase in student learning outcomes by conducting ethnomathematics learning of typical Riau Islands food. This is proven by the results of the mean calculation which shows that the average posttest value of the experimental class is greater than the control class. The experimental class has an average posttest value of 78.18, while the posttest value of the control class is 68.7. Which means that there is a significant influence so that learning with the application of ethnomathematics is effectively used in learning mathematics for fourth grade elementary school students.
