Pemanfaatan Lempung Alam Maredan Sebagai Adsorben Asam Lemak Bebas Dari Crude Palm Oil (CPO) : Variasi Berat Adsorben Pada Suhu 60 Dan 80oc
Riau Province has the great potential of natural clays, it could be found in the Maredan Village, Siak Regency. The purpose of this study was to modify and identify the character of clay through X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) analysis and the ratio of Si/Al then tested the ability adsorption clays of free fatty acids in the CPO. Activated clays have been prepared by using chemical activation with H2SO4 at varying concentrations of 0.1; 0.2 and 0.3 M, followed by physical activation by calcination at a temperature of 500 °C for 10 hours. Activated clay was used for adsorbing of free fatty acids from CPO under the influence of adsorbent weight (0.5; 1.0 and 1.5 g) in 10 mL CPO and temperature (60 oC and 80 oC). The highest adsorption activity shown in the adsorption treatment with the adsorbent weight of 1.5 g by using Maredan clay activated by H2SO4 0.2 M and calcined at a temperature of 500 oC for 10 hours at a adsorption temperature of 60 oC. Levels of free fatty acids adsorbed was 3.28%, which showed a decrease of free fatty acid content was 73.71%.
