Komunikasi Pembangunan Program I–Yes Mengajar Dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Pendidikan Melalui Agenda Sustainable Development Goals (Sdgs) Di Provinsi Riau
Core problem concerning education is educational equity which felt by
children in 3T areas (disadvantaged, outermost, and frontier). This problem can
not be solve by the government alone, but requires the role of society and
community. Indonesian Youth Educate and Social (I-YES) created a program to
help overcome the equity of education, namely I-YES Mengajar. This program
strives to the feasibility of education in 3T areas. Diffution of innovation is a theory
aims to see how a new idea spreads in a social system. This research aims to learn
about the diffusion of inovation in the development communication of I-YES
Mengajar Program to improve the quality of education through the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) agenda in terms of the Innovation Diffusion theory.
This research uses descriptive qualitative research type. This research was
conducted in Pekanbaru. The informants of this research consisted of six people in
which all subjects were selected using purposive technique. This research uses data
collection techniques through semistructural interviews and documentation. To
analyze the data, this study uses Miles and Huberman Interactive Model and to
achieve the validity of the data in this study the authors used triangulation.
The result of this reseach shows that I-YES Mengajar fulfill the element of
development communication which is informing development, involving the
community in decision making, and teaching skills.Contribution of I-YES Mengajar
to improve the quality of education through SDGs agenda is still not dominant and
is vague to which target and indicator to achieve. This research found that as an
innovation, this program is not a novelty. Nonetheless, because novelty in diffusion
of innovation is subjective, this program can be categorized as an innovation for
its adopter. Secondly, the communication channel used are quite diverse, starting
from interpersonal channels, groups, to mass media. The third is time, in which
every implemented program has been confirmed with positive results, as well as a
consistent adoption rate during implementation. Finally, the social system, because
of the location of the implementation is only one province makes the social structure
similar to one another which also in line with social norm resulted to no special
rules that need be considered by this program. Opinion leader provide imfluence
through extending the invitation also for granting permission to this program in
their respective locations.
