Analisis Jaringan Komunikasi Pekebun Kelapa Sawit Pola Swadaya Dalam Pelaksanaan Replanting Di Desa Sialang Sakti Kecamatan Dayun Kabupaten Siak
The oil palm plant (Elaeis guineensis Jacq) is one of the plantation commodities that has an important role in the Indonesian economy because it has very high economic value. It is time for oil palm plantations in Dayun District to replant because oil palms that are 20-25 years old are no longer productive and the yields obtained by planters are also decreasing. Utilization of communication networks is very important in every self-supporting oil palm plantation business activity.
This research aims to describe the characteristics of planters, analyze the ability of planters to use smartphones to access replanting program information, examine communication network patterns, the actors involved and their roles, individual-level communication networks among planters in implementing replanting, and analyze the relationship between planter characteristics and planters' abilities in implementing replanting oil palm in Sialang Sakti Village, Dayun District, Siak Regency. This research uses purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques to determine the sample. The sample in this study was 20 self-supporting oil palm planters who had implemented a replanting program.
The final results of this research concluded that 6 internal characteristics, 3 external characteristics, and the growers' abilities were included in the good category. The network pattern is formed by a wheel pattern with the core Gapoktan administrators as star actors and with high centrality value. The relationship between growers' characteristics and abilities is significantly related, namely farming experience, level of cosmopolitanism, the intensity of extension, the accuracy of extension channels, and several information sources.
