Music is one of the non-news program for broadcast media
Televisi.Program music presented by most private television stations of national
and regional at the present time, brings more modern music. For the cultural
nuances of the music program / music area, very rarely to be found in programs
presented by the television station. TVRI station Riau is one of the national mass
media that broadcast a program of music that nuances cultural impressions.
Music is the music program Dendang Sumatra. The purpose of the music
broadcast program is to provide entertainment to the community / audience with
ethnic music, mostly ethnic in sumatra island and especially the ethnic Malay and
also to preserve the Malay culture through a glass screen to the audience.
The purpose of this research is to study the response of audiences who are in Sub-
District Of Kampung Baru subdistrict Senapelan Pekanbaru on Sumatra
Dendang Music impressions, and the factors that encourage the audience who are
in Sub-District Of Kampung Baru subdistrict Senapelan watching Music Dendang
Sumatra
This research uses descriptive quantitative method of measurement of the
observed phenomena, so that data collection is done by using a structured
questionnaire (questionnaire), observation and unstructured interviews. Next the
researchers tried to explain clearly the respondents' answers to the problems
posed. Of the 99 respondents who obtained based on sampling with purposive
sampling technique. The data are then discussed and analyzed through frequency
distributions.
The results showed that the event has attracted Music Dendang Sumatra
enough audience response in Sub-District Of Kampung Baru in pretty good
category, by percentage of 59.16%. From the perspective of Uses and
Gratification, audiences in this research is to society in Sub-District Of Kampung
Baru which has over 17 years. From the results of research and observation in
the field, the audience is satisfied with the musical impressions Dendang Sumatra.
this can be seen from the factors that encourage them to watch the show Music
Dendang Sumatra, namely because the impressions are loaded with
entertainment, and a lot of implicit cultural values, especially the Malay culture.
