Pengaruh Jumlah Shelter Terhadap Pertumbuhan Dan Elulushidupan Larva Ikan Baung (Mystus Nemurus Cv)
The aims of this experiment were to study the growth and survival rate of Mystus nemurus CV larvae that were reared in aquaria with different number of shelter holes. This research was conducted from November to December 2010 in the Hatchery Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, University of Riau. The larvae were reared for 40 days, in the aquarium 30 x 30 x 30 cm that were filled with water (15 cm height), completed with shelter made from PVC pipes (0.75 inch in diamater, 5 cm length) and the larvae fed on Tubifex sp, 3 times/day, ad-libitum. Treatments applied were the number of shelter, namely: P1 (10 shelters), P2 (20 shelters), P3 (30 shelters) and P4 (0 shelters). Results shown that the number of shelter holes was not significantly affect the growth of the larvae (absolute weight ranged from 0.548 to 0.678 and absolute length ranged from 3 to 4.93, P>0.05). The highest survival rate was obtained in the larvae that were reared in aquaria completed with 30 shelters (100 %). Water quality during research were : temperature 26 – 280C, pH was around 5.5 – 7, dissolved oxygen was around 5.5 – 6.3 ppm and ammonia was around 0.02 – 0.10 ppm.
