Pulau Bungin natural sand is quarried at Batang Kuantan River, Kuantan Singingi Regency. It becomes widely used by the locals as concrete material due to more economical In terms of transportation and process costs. According to Bina Marga Specification 2010 Revision 3, the use of natural sand for asphalt concrete (AC) mixture should not exceed 15% of the total aggregat mixture weight. This research aims to find out the effect of using Pulau Bungin natural sand in AC-base mixtures. The performance of the mixtures were based on Marshall Characteristics as specified on the specification. The percentages of sand used in this research were 0%,5%,10%,15% and 16% of the total weight of the aggregate mixtures. Results showed that the addition of natural sand caused the value of optimum asphalt content to decrease. The optimum asphalt content increased by 6,20 at the addition of 5% natural sand, and also resulted in the largest Marshall stability, i.e 3341 kg. Without considering the limit of natural sand percentage allowed in the Bina Marga Specification, the addition of natural sand on AC-Base is still possible up to 16%.
