The purpose of this research are : Describe sago farming, analyze the internal and
external characteristics of sago farmers, the dynamics of sago farmers, the ability
of sago farmers and analyze the relationship of internal and external
characteristics of sago farmers to the dynamics of sago group and sago group
dynamics relation to the ability of sago group in Tebing Tinggi Barat district of
Kepulauan Meranti Regency. This research used survey method. This research
was conducted in TebingTinggi Barat district of KepulauanMeranti regency
starting from April 2017 until January 2018. The sampling of 70 sago farmers was
taken by purposive sampling. The data analysis used are Likert Scale analysis and
Rank Spearman correlation. The results of this research indicate that: Sago
farming by farmers consists of land clearing, nursery, planting to maintenance and
embroidery. The internal characteristic level of sagofarmer group in TebingTinggi
Barat district is classified as "medium" with an average score of 2,76. The
external characteristics level of sago farmer groups in TebingTinggi Barat district
is classified as "medium" with an average score of 2,67.The level of dynamics of
sago farmer group is classified as "medium" with score value 3,06 and sago group
ability level belong to "low" category with score value 2,44.Relationship of
internal and external characteristics of sago farmers to the level of dynamics of
sago farmer group and the dynamic relationship to the level of sago group ability
in TebingTinggi Barat district has a two-way relationship that is positive and
negative. The relationship consists of significant relationships, very significant
and insignificant.
