Pola Lingkaran Pertumbuhan Pada Otolith Ikan Nila (Oreochromis Niloticus) Di Muara Induk Sungai Deli Belawan, Kelurahan Belawan Bahari, Provinsi Sumatera Utara
Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) is a group of subtropical to tropical fish which is an omnivorous fish. The quality of life of tilapia is reflected in the growth pattern of otoliths, the cause of tilapia experiencing stress during its life can be investigated through the growth ring pattern in the otolith. This study aims to determine the growth ring pattern in the otolith of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) conducted from October to December 2024. The method used in this study is the survey method where the Deli River Main Estuary in the Belawan area is the research location and the tilapia caught as the research object. The sample used was 50 tilapia, the fish obtained were the result of fishermen's catches. The results showed that the PT size class of the tilapia body was 180-232 mm, the fish body weight (BW) ranged from 152-300 g, while the tilapia otolith had a total length (TL) of 4.3-6.77 mm, and weight otolith (WO) 0.055-0.0441
g. In all fish caught, the number of dark ring on the otolith was only 1-3 dark ring and the distance between the core and the first dark ring ranged from 0.2-0.3 mm. There was no specific pattern in the distance, indicating that the ring were formed individually. Based on the presence of the dark ring, the life of tilapia in the waters of the Deli Belawan Bahari River Main Estuary is estimated to experience disturbance/pressure as reflected in the otolith growth ring pattern. Water quality data shows that the Deli Belawan Bahari River Main Estuary can still support the viabillity and growth of tilapia.
