Komposisi Hasil Tangkapan Gombang Siang Dan Malam Di Perairan Desa Insit Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Barat Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
The majority of people in Insit Village make their living as fishermen, with gombang fishing gear as one of the commonly used fishing methods. This research aims to analyze differences in the composition of catches from gombang fishing gear operated during the day and at night in the waters of Insit Village, Tebing Tinggi Barat District, Meranti Islands Regency, Riau Province. The research was conducted in August – September 2024. The method used was a field survey with direct observation of fishing activities during the research period. Data collected includes species type, number of individuals, and total weight of catch from both operational times. The results showed that lomek fish (Harpodon nehereus) was the most dominant species, with a higher level of contribution to fishing activities at night compared to during the day. Statistical analysis using the t test indicated that although there were differences in absolute values between day and night catches, these differences were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). Oceanographic factors such as current speed, temperature and salinity of the water, as well as natural lighting and biota distribution patterns, also influence the effectiveness of fishing gear. This research provides an important contribution in understanding the dynamics of fishing based on operational time and can be a basis for formulating sustainable fisheries management strategies, in order to increase fishermen's productivity while preserving the local aquatic ecosystem
