Ekstraksi Oleoresin Dari Kulit Kayu Manis (Cinnamomum Burmanii)
ABSTRACT
Oleoresin consists of essential oils that carry aroma whereas resin carries taste. The
main objectives of this research are to extract oleoresin from cinnamon bark with
maceration method, to determine the yield of extraction of cinnamon bark oleoresin, to
compare the result of extraction of cinnamon bark oleoresin with SNI standard which is
reviewed by organoleptic, alcohol solubility, density, refractive index and active
compounds in cinnamon bark oleoresin. Oleoresin from cinnamon bark is extracted with
maceration method using various sizes and types of solvent. The size variation used are
particles size retained on 50 mesh, 100 mesh, 150 mesh sieve and particles passed
through 200 mesh sieve, while the solvent variations used are 96% ethanol and 96% ethyl
acetate. The result of oleoresin extraction showed that the highest yield was obtained in
the extraction treatment of particles size passed through a 200 mesh sieve with ethanol
solvent of 33,586%. While the lowest yield was obtained in the extraction treatment of
particle size retained on a 50 mesh sieve with ethyl acetate solvent of 14,860%. The best
extraction treatment was in the condition that the particle size passed a 200 mesh sieve
with ethanol solvent where the results of organoleptic test obtained are dark brown color,
has a strong cinnamon aroma and viscous liquid, the solubility in alcohol is 1:4,4 ; its
density is 1,028 and largest active compound content is cinnamaldehyde and its
derivative are 35,64%.
